Smile For Summer!

My first blog post!  I’m pretty clueless as to how to create a blog/website, and I’ve been fumbling with this website for weeks now, hoping I’d get the hang of it.  This wordpress business isn’t as self explanatory as I thought it would be (shout out to my cousins Kelly and Laz for responding to my late night texts).  So weeks later, I’m still not even sure if I’m writing this post in the correct space or if it will actually appear on my blog.  If you’re reading this, then I guess I did something right.

My summer project began before the season itself, as I jumped on the opportunity to help my cousin/bestie deliver packages to Muslim families in the Newark area for Ramadan.  “Smile For Charity is a non-profit organization that attempts to help the underprivileged members of the community. They work with everyone from Syrian refugees, to domestic violence victims, to widowed mothers and wives.”  For years, they’ve organized the delivery of hundreds of packages to families in need in an event called Rose for Ramadan.  I truly appreciate having had the opportunity to help deliver packages, work alongside such an outstanding organization, and meet the wonderful families who received the packages.  It was an all-around enriching experience, and I hope to volunteer  with this organization again.  Feeling grateful.  Ramadan Mubarak!
